What the fuck? First STX moved it. Then it was attached to pretty much every film since September with a prominent DECEMBER right at the end of the trailer. Now they're moving it again? And they're releasing it in February but not the week of Valentine's Day?

I feel like STX got spooked by The Edge of Seventeen flopping despite being a great movie.

Damn. The previews make it look like a D+ movie, but I was hoping Damon and the cool premise could save it.

I was hoping, well expecting really, a lot more from it. Algren liked it, but it simply didn't resonate with me.

It's a good film. Daman is good. Once you get over the surprise that it's not a historical drama about The Great Wall of China but instead is a Chinese legend about monsters attacking China, I believe you can enjoy the film. Though it helps if Chinese culture appeals to you. The trailer accurately sells it, but in terms of quality, I believe it undersells the film.

Glad you enjoyed it. It is a fun film despite not being released in the summer or afterwards and not being as good as the previous ones.

Ummm, the first one was released in September and all the ones since have been released in January. So it's a pretty normal release for this franchise.
