The news evokes Halle Berry following her Oscar win with Die Another Day and Catwoman. Or Charlize Theron following hers with Aeon Flux. Or Angelina Jolie following hers with...Tomb Raider. But Vikander is talented and sexy, and I would love for it to turn out well. |

I think if done right, a Tomb Raider film could actually both be very good and do very well, like Indiana Jones with tits. Even if it's not that great, I doubt it'll be too bad for her career. Halle Berry got past Catwoman alright, and I don't see how Tomb Raider could be anywhere near the mess that was. |

Tomb Raider has already been done once, and it stank, so people will be more forgiving of this new one. It just needs to be ok, not even that great, and people will give it a pass. Just don't be shit. |

At least Brie Larson a safe film with Marvel (though she was completely wasted in Kong). It's always the Trend. Here are the followups to the last couple of Best Actress winners. They all want that payday. Vikander already did Bourne and Man From Uncle, but she just seems out of place for the character. Just Like Heaven (Reese, though to be fair she was already a highly paid actress, but her choices definitely got worse) National Treasure 2, Inkheart (Mirren) Public Enemies, Inception, and Nine (Cottliard) Divergent and Movie 43 (Winslet) The Heat, Gravity (Bullock, that at least worked out for her though) NSA, Your Highness, Thor (Portman) Streep (the exception) Hudson (Well she had her next few years tied up in franchises) Blanchett (Again the veterans know to mix it up, but she had Monuments Men, Cinderella, HTTYD2, and the Hobbits) Moore (MJ 1 and 2, Seventh Son) Stone has Cruella DeVil coming up. |

Well it goes to the stigma that even if you get 200k a film, people think your rich. 10-15% goes to an agent, another to the rest of your group, 25% at least to taxes. You're basically someone that makes 40k a year if your lucky |

Cate Blanchett and Marion Cotillard are obvious exceptions, too. Unless you are implying Inception, Nine, and Public Enemies were embarrassing projects. (Sure, Nine blows, but it is/was handsome on paper.) Winslet directly followed The Reader with Carnage, Contagion, and Mildred Pierce. Jumping to Movie 43 is a stretch. |

Winslet was famous for not doing the "big paycheck" when she did Holy Smoke after Titanic. But she learned from her mistake before actually winning that she need to switch it up. She used her oscar Clout for Divergent no doubt. I wasn't implying that Cottliard's films were bad, they just happened to mostly work out for her, they are still big mainstream roles.. Nine and and Public Enemies her roles are pretty bad, Inception is kind of important part, but all 3 are pretty shit, and she made more huge $ on all of them. You can go further back, it's usually the case. |
