Post Mad Max: The Wasteland - Will it ever happen?
Quote:
Director George Miller has revealed that the follow-up to Mad Max: Fury Road will be titled Mad Max: The Wasteland.

“We’ve got one screenplay and a novella. It happened because with the delays [on Fury Road], and writing all the backstories, they just expanded,” Miller said while explaining how he ended up with a fully mapped out Mad Max trilogy before the first film released, on The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith.

The title is interesting because The Wasteland is the name of the world in which the Mad Max films take place. What that means for the plot remains to be seen.

I guess being delayed so many times he had many decades to think things through so perhaps they can get a sequel out within 3 years.

I think its out by 2017. Independence Day week would be perfect for it.

Any word on follow up to Fury Road? you'd think with the goodwill generated from that movie (including the most improbable Best Picture nomination ever), they'd be en route to making a $equel.

I hope it gets funding. I loved the first one and I'd actually like to see Max as the focus this time.

Miller doesn't strike me as the type of person to give a shit about the two-year sequel rule. He'll make it when he's ready. Audiences wait for geniuses.

Isn't he involved with an ongoing lawsuit with WB regarding the budget for Fury Road? Not sure he would be willing to work with them again.

Yep, he’s in a lawsuit with them over salary owed. The sequel is dead until that’s resolved.

Missed opportunity here. I would have bet on huge numbers for the sequel with Fury Road WOM and non stop action

Sad that the earliest we'd get this at this rate is 2021 or so.
