Here is the first image:

Yifei Liu is Mulan. Also in the cast are Yoson An, Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Ron Yuan, Tzi Ma, Chum Ehelepola, Gong Li and Jet Li, with Rosalind Chao and Cheng Pei-Pei the most recent recruits.

Director Niki Caro will be filming in China and New Zealand, with the film scheduled to arrive on 27 March, 2020.

Is Disney intentionally casting less-than-stunning actresses in their live action reimaginings? Emma Watson being 'Belle' was
already a stretch (she's alright, but she's not a BEAUTY).

Even the promo shots couldn't make her look like BEAUTY to the Beast.

The girl they picked to play Jasmine isn't anything spectacular either.

Now this Mulan girl is pretty homely looking

They're all 7/10 at best.

These are the Disney PRINCESSES. They're supposed to be stunning beauties. When people imagine these girls live action they're thinking of Margot Robbie/JLaw type 9 or 10s.

Disney probably realise that most girls are not in the 9/10 bracket, and therefore by choosing average-looking girls to play their princesses they speak to a wider pool of potential fans. Seems to be working.

Apparently I heard that this story, the real one not the Disney animated one is taught in Chinese schools. It's required learning. I wonder if the film should be in Chinese with English subtitles. This looks to be a different style of Disney film. Maybe a more serious dramatic action film?

It would make about $15 million if it was Mandarin with English subtitles.
