Re: Marvel/DC/Comic Book Movie Discussion
I'm not sure if this is still the case, but I know in 1980 when the Salkinds fired Richard Donner from Superman II, Donner had already shot 70% of the film. When Richard Lester took over, in order to get credit from the DGA, 50% of the footage in the final film had to be his (stuff in Houston, Niagra Falls, slapstick showdown, cellophane "S", magic kiss, etc).
I'm not sure if that's still the case 37 years later, and it's an entirely different situation, but Magnus is onto something in that Whedon wouldn't hire Elfman to do patchwork. Unless Junkie was composing as he got dailies, chances are he didn't get to do much yet. Michael Giacchino only last month released a sneak at his updated version of the Spider-Man tv Show theme (which was great). So why not just let him stay on? It's who Snyder picked. Brining in someone like Elfman shows that he's making it his, at least musically.
And it's funny. There's now a very good chance we'll have two former Batman composers coming back to compose two new films and not use their original themes (and in Elfman's case maybe even repurposing what Zimmer and Junkie did in BvS). Give us Elfman and give us Williams damnit! (Not that I didn't love Zimmer's Man of Steel score, but Superman being resurrected to Williams's theme?... )

You can catch more of him in the movie Rev. I'd rather not tease it too much at this point.
I am also curious how much of this will change now that Snyder is gone but there isn't enough time to change it significantly IMO. Plus Avengers is not an LOL funny Marvel movie, so it will be interesting how much balance of humor and darkness can Whedon bring into this.

If Justice League is bad (which is most likely), Snyder will get the blame. If it's good, Whedon will get a pat on the back. That much is guaranteed.

One thing for sure: WW will be getting a big focus on the marketing going forward.
Yes, it will (unfortunately for me). But it should be Superman. He hasn't been seen yet at all!

I know Cavill has already been filming and all, but Justice League shouldn't have Superman at all. Its a much more interesting narrative.
I liked that they're keeping Superman out of the marketing, but he's everything and the only thing that I look forward to in the film...actually do we know who's the villain?

Lex Luthor will be around as an antagonist of sorts, but the main villains are Steppenwolf and Darkseid.

Tom Holland said the little boy in an Iron Man costume in Iron Man 2 is Peter Parker. Love it! Such a random/ weird way to tie him in.

This kid?
That works with the timeline. That kid is, what, 7-8 years old? That was seven years ago. So Peter Parker should be 15 years old in Homecoming, which he is.
I actually love this tie-in.

It actually makes Iron Man 2 have a point.

Re: Marvel/DC/Comic Book Movie Discussion
Around 2008 was when I didn't attend the cinema much, so I missed Transformers and Iron Man. I caught them later. So, unlucky for me my first encounter seeing Iron Man and Transformers was Iron Man 2 and Revenge of the Fallen, which is why I can vividly remember the great marketing for both, and why they were such a letdown.

ROF is awful. IM2 isn't bad by any means, but it is just such blah film for the most part, It is the BVS where they tried to shoehorn Avengers in, and it can't survive its very coast-by storyline.

I'd rather watch Revenge of the Fallen (D+) than Iron Man 2 (D).

Re: Marvel/DC/Comic Book Movie Discussion
Fallen was terrible (and I was a fan of the first TF film).
IM2 is the worst of the MCU films but at least still entertaining in parts and Black Widow is a bright spot.
Is Hollywood running out of actors? I mean, more than just the fact that Hollywood's go-to actor base is the UK or Australia, actors are now racking up multiple superhero characters. The obvious one is Ryan Reynolds. He is Deadpool, Green Lantern, and Hannibal King. Then there is Tom Hardy (Bane, Venom), Josh Brolin (Thanos, Cable), Chris Evans (Human Torch, Captain America), and Ben Affleck (Batman, Daredevil). I get that some actors would rather not star in superhero films. I imagine people like Damon and DiCaprio are offered roles and turn them down, but there are still hundreds of actors out there to use instead of tapping in to the same twenty.

Re: Marvel/DC/Comic Book Movie Discussion
Dicaprio was up for Robin in Batman Forever, and Annakin in AOTC. Two major bullets dodged.
Is DiCaprio the only current high level actor at this point to not be in a big sequel (his first film was critters 3 I know)?

Blade Runner 2049 will take care of that.
But I believe Jake Gyllenhaal counts.
