I noticed the other day that I am a cat person. I mean, this wasn't a surprise to me. I know I prefer cats to dogs, but to find out that this inadvertently stretched to my film taste was quite a revelation. Subconsciously, I just do not choose dog movies over cat ones. I have seen loads (won't say "all", but a lot more than) of cat movies, and only a handful of dog ones.

I was having a conversation about cat/dog films and I had seen all the cat ones but none of the dog ones. Name a cat film and there's a good chance I would have seen it. The same can't be said for dog movies.

So, I pose the question to WOKJ, are you a cat or a dog film fan?

Dogs.

Well there's The Aristocats and Puss In Boots, but you're right, there are infinitely more dog movies.

The last great one I saw was Hachiko: A Dog's Story, but I'd like to give a shout out to the underrated (though not here at KJ) Eight Below.

It's weird, isn't it? That there seems to be no live action film centered around a cat.

Cats run their own studio system, entirely independent of the human world.

Well there's Garfield and its sequel, Stephen King's Cat's Eye, Two Brothers, and Life of Pi to name a few. But I agree that there are many more dog films.

Okay, so you count big cats, too. But what about just pet cats? And not animated ones too (so fuck Garfield)?

Well, Garfield is a live action film. But the thread doesn't stipulate live actin or animated. It's purely regarding the subconscious attraction to cats over dogs or vice-versa. But yeah, I would include big cats. Why not? I mean, we include Eight Below, which features wild dogs. So why not Two Brothers that features wild cats?

FTR, Eight Below features standard issue domesticated dogs - - Malamutes and Huskies.

Gay Purr-ee is pretty forgettable even if you had heard of it. It's nice to see the obvious Chuck Jones characters but other than that, meh.
