Among actors who direct, I find him interesting. He definitely has considerable talent as a stylist, and most of his films as a director have inspired a great deal of conversation, either becoming generational cult favorites or causing divisive reactions one would not expect from quote-unquote mainstream comedies (the grim and melancholy elements of The Cable Guy, the devil-may-care satiric depictions of mental health and race in Tropic Thunder). And, of course, his film celebrity status is predated by the underground popularity of the highly idiosyncratic Ben Stiller Show.
So, yes, rate or rank his directorial oeuvre.
