Pretty great list, Libs.

As Good As It Gets is a great #1 and awesome to see Gump that high.

There is this nerdy part of my brain which wishes I could funnel these lists into a machine and get statistics such as most represented director, average release year, etc. ;)

 Something like that pops in my mind every time I enter this thread. God, I love statistics.

Has every list had at least one film by Spielberg and at least one by Hitchcock? Mine included A.I., Frenzy, and Rebecca.

Program it! I'd guess Steven Spielberg and 2003 with Princess Bride have the most total points of all lists.

Nah, I guess Fight Club is the most named movie.

Was I the only one who didn't include Fight Club?

Algren or inny binny would be the only other ones not to. It has shown up pretty consistently near the top too, so you might be right riggs.

Who is next btw? We've had so many skips that the queue is useless.

No clue. Have Corpse & Inny Binny included it?

Did everyone post their lists in a single post after their conclusion?

Because I can make a spreadsheet...

For the first time in my life, I recently compiled my own all-time Top 100 list for a certain project that I am participating in, but the list didn't have to be ranked, just 100 films listed alphabetically. This was still the closest I ever got to a Top 100 list.

Post it.

Nah. As I said before, I don't like doing these things without an appropriate amount of time to think about it. The list I had to compile, well, I had to do it on short notice and under time pressure.

People often obsess over all the films they have surely forgotten, but it begs the question: if it slips your mind so easily, does it belong on your all-time top 100 anyway? Granted, there are a few films which come to you at the last second: "oh, shit, need to find room for it!" But overall I believe first-blush, top-of-the-head impressions are the best tool with which to compile this type of list.

Thanks for the nice comments y'all.

What movies did you just leave off your lists? I cut Cast Away, (500) Days of Summer, Remember the Titans and Apocalypse Now.

C'mon Dr. Lecter, it's just for us, who cares if you forget or improperly place something?

Of course it is always personal approach. But I disagree with that as far as I am concerned. I think when talking about one hundred films, it is easy that even something that you love slips your mind.

It is mainly for me, though. ;) Maybe one day. I know certain people who are not posting here, but have been waiting for years for me to finally put my Top 100 up here (I think they gave up by now).

Domino
The Last Wave

O Brother, Where Art Thou?
The Sand Pebbles
Syriana
Vertigo
Wake in Fright

O Brother, Where Art Thou? is the only Coens-film that would make my Top 100.

For close calls I had Baseketball at #101. [REC], Ran, Strange Days, Groundhog Day, Deep Rising, Deep Blue Sea, Dawn of the Dead (04), Casino Royale, Battle Royale, 28 Weeks Later, Billy Madison, Avatar, True Lies, Forest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Clerk 2, Kingpin, Kill Bill, 40-Year-Old Virgin, American Pie, Army of Darkness, Austin Powers, North by Northwest, Clue, Final Destination 2, The Lion King, Dr. Strangelove, Halloween, Prisoner of Azkaban, and Men in Black were all movies that I wanted to include but couldn't fit in. I could probably compile an entire 200-101 list, but that would be boring. Top 100s are much more interesting.
