It may work, it may not. But I am eager to see it mightily bomb or be a good film. It will not be a boring Tyler Perry-level comedy, that's for sure. It will be an event. It is kind of breaking new ground.

So Top Gun 2 will be called Top Gun: Maverick. I prefer it to "Top Gun 2".

Re: Which of these sequels will actually happen?
I wonder if a second Tintin film will ever come to fruition. Every now and then a person involved with the first (Spielberg, Peter Jackson, Edgar Wright, Jamie Bell) will say, "Oh, it's moving forward. We're figuring it out," etc., etc., then nothing seems to truly pop or be finalized. It is a virtual nonentity stateside after six years (eight or nine years by the time they could finish a sequel), but I guess there is still money to be made overseas. I always get the feeling, though, its shrug of a response in the U.S. stifled Spielberg and Jackson's enthusiasm for the property.

Tintin is another example of an unsuccessful creation of an existing property, like Paddington.

Paddington was a critical and financial success, it made $268m on a $55m budget that's almost 5 times its budget, most movies would wish to have that kind of return.

Go easy on stuffp - as a young child he was regularly beaten with an oversized Paddington stuffed doll filled with sharp rocks (ironically his username is short for "stuffed paddington").

s-h-i-t...tree and a half found me out...think I have to leave the forum now And Sparrow, I was talked about it's creative success, I think it's dullingly average.

Re: Which of these sequels will actually happen?
But this is a sequel thread which Paddington is getting, plus critically and financially it was a hit, so I don't understand that comment's use in this thread. Its also no way comparable to Tintin because that actually had a trilogy planned but got sacked because of mediocre BO performance.

Re: Which of these sequels will actually happen?
Sure, I think there never was going to be any question that Paddington would get a sequel. I was merely wishing that Paddington would have gotten the same BO reception as TinTin and therefor we could be saved of a sequel for it.

The creator of Paddington just died.
