Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes films - yay or nay
Do you enjoy the cult British director's action and spectacle oriented version of literature's most famous detective?

A big yay on my end. I love these films. Downey and Law have ace chemistry, and the blend of action, atmosphere, and humor is just right. And they do not erase the more traditional film and television adaptations.

The first is excellent. The second is incredibly boring.

I love both, but the second is superior. Less of Rachel McAdams' slightly dull character.

Re: Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes films - yay or nay
Fair enough, but the second film seems more aware of the fact the Holmes/Watson homoerotic friendship is the heart of the franchise. It does not try to push the Noomi Rapace gypsy character as much as the first does McAdams' Irene Adler. She is just part of the mystery at hand.

I like the second a little more too, I like the cat and mouse aspect more than the obvious figure out how he faked his death plot. I really like the style and acting in both. And I agree, a nice different approach (more accurate adaptation) that works very well.

To be fair the second is slightly less horrible. That would make a good blurb for the DVD/Blu-ray jacket .

Nay-ish. The first one is sufficiently entertaining, but the sequel is bland and mostly forgettable.

Major Nay. /salute
Neither of these films produced any kind of emotional reaction. They are good for nothing more than background noise, and even in that they fall below expectations. Which is a shame since I'd consider Snatch one of my all-time favorite films.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.....yay
They're good films, and Downey Jr ad Law are absolutely incredible with their chemistry, and yes I like the scenes where Holmes plans out the fight in his head, but other than that, pretty forgetable.
