Sundance 2013
I though it might be interesting to have a thread to post news, reviews of the high-profile debuts, etc. Top of the Lake is going to be so amazing. I am excited to read reviews for Before Midnight, Breathe In, Lovelace, Stoker, and the new Michael Winterbottom/Steve Coogan collaboration, The Look of Love. In Fear's production concept sounds neat: actors unaware of the exact nature and course of the story they are filming. If done right, it could be an amazing horror film. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut seems to be a vanilla version of Shame for hipsters.

I'm excited for Before Midnight and very interested in The Lifeguard, which will probably receive poor reviews .

Re: Sundance 2013
A very promising list. Cant wait for first reviews, especially Midnight. Please dont lose the magic. Though Im comforted by the fact there is no way it can be as good as Sunset.

Re: Sundance 2013
I'm excited for Lynn Shelton's next called Touchy Feely, which reunites her with her Your Sister's Sister star Rosemarie DeWitt. Also stars Allison Janney and Ellen Page. Here's a review: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/review ... iew-413964I'm also very excited for the drama Two Mothers. It stars Naomi Watts and Robin Wright as two mothers who fall for each other's sons, played by Xavier Samuel ( The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and The Loved Ones) and James Frecheville ( Animal Kingdom). After Another Earth and Sound of My Voice, a new Brit Marling project is something to get excited about. But The East sounds crazily similar to Sound of My Voice. Sure hope it manages to be different. Film also stars Ellen Page, Alexander Skarsgård, Shiloh Fernandez, Patricia Clarkson, and Julia Ormond. I wonder if Fox Searchlight will pick this up like they did Marling's last two films.

Re: Sundance 2013
Nicholas Slayton @NSlayton Before Midnight is one of the best films I have ever seen. Wow. Perfect. #sundance Alex Billington @firstshowing Before Midnight - Love. I am in love. Wonderful, so wonderful. They did it. I couldn't stop smiling the whole film. Perfection. #Sundance Ethan Anderton @Ethan_Anderton Richard Linklater has met and exceeded expectations with the heart wrenching, charming, funny and genuine BEFORE MIDNIGHT. It's a triumph. Germain Lussier @GermainLussier Richard Linklater, Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy live up to impossible expectations with Before Midnight. J’adore. #sundance Ethan Anderton @Ethan_Anderton BEFORE MIDNIGHT is Sundance's THIS IS 40, but is near perfect on every level. Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy are just the best onscreen couple. ThePlaylist @ThePlaylist The logical extension of the Before Sunrise/Before Sunset films "@modage: Love is hard. #Sundance" #BeforeMidnight Ethan Anderton @Ethan_Anderton And if BEFORE MIDNIGHT doesn't get a Best Original Screenplay nomination at next year's Oscars, that will be a travesty. David Fear @davidlfear Spoiler: Before Midnight is a fucking masterpiece. I am not joking. #BeforeMidnight #Sundance Peter Sciretta @slashfilm 'Before Midnight' makes it three for three in the series. This one is more about the difficulty of a long relationship. Part of me loves... Scott Renshaw @scottrenshaw All of the feelings. Just fucking ALL of them. #BeforeMidnight Steven Zeitchik @ZeitchikLAT Before Midnight: Some really great writing, wonderful balance of drama and comedy. Linklater at the top of his game. #Sundance Mike Ryan @mikeryan Before Midnight is my favorite of the "Before" trilogy. #sundance Ben Pearson @benpears BEFORE MIDNIGHT was stellar. Darker than the first two, but emotionally devastating. #Sundance Alex Suskind @ClassicSource BEFORE MIDNIGHT: Sweet, funny and romantic. Perfect way to end the trilogy #sundance Ethan Anderton @Ethan_Anderton Right there with you. RT @mikeryan: Before Midnight is my favorite of the "Before" trilogy. #Sundance Mike Ryan @mikeryan Before Midnight is by far the most relatable of the three films. These are now real people, not a caricature of "true love." #sundance kateyrich @kateyrich Still got too big a lump in my throat to talk about Before Midnight. Pretty sure it's perfect. Hard to see through all the wistful tears. Damon Wise @yo_damo Wow, Before Midnight really kills the box set #Sundance2013 #justmyopinion even Weintraub @colliderfrosty BEFORE MIDNIGHT was not what I expected yet exactly what it needed to be. It's a perfect trilogy. Wouldn't change a thing. erickohn @erickohn BEFORE SUNRISE/SUNSET/MIDNIGHT: Now officially one of the best trilogies ever. #Sundance13 I need this movie in my life right now.

Re: Sundance 2013
OH MY GOD! That is so amazing to hear! If this is indeed a masterpiece this will be one of the best trilogies of all-time. I want to see this so, so badly! Can they please just give this a bigger push than the last two and release it semi-wide? If it doesn't open here I will die. You know what would be neat? If they had 11:59 PM screenings for this . Clever I know!

I still think that someday Lost in Translation should follow the "Before" series and have at least one sequel. Could actually be good.

Assuming the film connects as well as people say it does, is the 'Before' series the best trilogy ever?

Really hope the third will get more Oscar attention than the last two received. Only the second received a nomination and that was for Screenplay. Haven't heard a bad thing about this third one yet from the tweets coming in on Twitter.

Re: Sundance 2013
The question is, when are we gonna see the thing? I have to think they'll have a distributor by the time Sundance ends. With VOD platforming, is it possible the film could be out this spring?

Re: Sundance 2013
I hope it comes out that soon, but I hope they have enough time to actual market it. I hope someone picks it up that doesn't to the VOD thing, I'd like to see this in theaters but if it's on demand, I will obviously want to order it before going to NYC to see it opening weekend.

Would be a damn shame to release this simultaneously theatrically/VOD. I can't see them wasting it on that. There's potential here. Would love to see it breakout and do around 20 Million. I know the series has only gotten more popular on DVD and if this one gets Oscar attention the audience will only expand. I don't think it will be huge or anything, but compared to the first two it very well could be. I am betting it is released this summer, possibly June or July. This definitely has Oscar potential if the studio that picks it up gives it a nice awards push. I'm sure Weinstein could get it some love . Very anxious to hear who picks this up. Better be a good distributor.

Re: Sundance 2013
I read on IMDB that it is rumored to be released early summer (like June) but how they would know that when there isn't a distributer is beyond me.

Re: Sundance 2013
http://collider.com/before-midnight-rev ... um=twitter*** That is another positive review. I almost wish they wouldn't have spoiled what the movie was about, but it was kind of expected anyway and it would have been spoiled by the trailers I'm sure.

Re: Sundance 2013
Relativity Media is paying big bucks for JGL's Don Jon's Addiction. $4 Mill Upfront, $25 Million P&A For Summer Release in 2,000 theaters. I suspect edits will definitely have to be made to get an "R" rating. This didn't sound commercial at all. Shocked it's going to be a wide release film. I don't expect it to will be a hit. http://www.deadline.com/2013/01/relativ ... /#comments

Does Gordon-Levitt have his Fassmember on display throughout? If not, I am sure it can get an R.

Hmm, for all the love Before Sunset gets....I am still standing firm by that Before Sunrise is well overated.
