Anyone ending up with World War Z 2 is garbage. It is simply not going to exist in 2017. Might as well draft those mulled-over Gladiator or Departed sequels.

So, what do you all think of the lineups in Group B. My first thought is that if anybody has a 30M+ movie after round 14 they're doing well. Maybe next time we should only draft 10 rounds, then have a 5 round supplementary draft midway through the year or something.

It looks to me like Rev and stuffp have pretty solid line ups.

Yes, obviously 140 was too many. We will certainly do less next year.

Coming from maybe the best BO predictor on the forum, nice!

I still enjoyed it actually, I preferred it over last year's draft which I found definitely too short. I think we should draft at least 100 films for it to be fun, so 15 rounds seems right then. SolC9 suggesting 10 + 5 should work too.

Post Re: 2017 Box Office Draft- Group 2
Corpse - congrats on the first breakout of 2017. Very nice pick in Split that more than makes up for the somewhat under-performing Underworld.

I will take a high teens opening for A Dog's Purpose. Not bad for an 11th round pick. Could have been so much worse.

As for the rest of my pre-summer lineup...

My February doesn't look so hot, with Fifty Shades Darker (maybe 100M, I'd be content with that), A United Kingdom (almost nothing, though I think the movie looks good), Fist Fight (hoping for 60M), and Rock Dog (hoping for 20M).

March will be extremely important for my game, Beauty and the Beast (I need this to do over 400M to make up for the likely under-performance of Fifty Shades Darker and/or Ghost in the Shell) and Ghost In The Shell (this could do anywhere between 50-150M, but at least 100M would be nice).

April I have only Unforgettable. 18th round pick, anything over 10M would be fine. I actually think the trailer is pretty intense, maybe it will find an audience and be a nice late round pick.

It's a pretty disappointing turn yeah. I expected it to gross closer to 100 than 50 with it being a good 6th round pick.

All of your top 5 picks have the potential to make up for it though with an over-performance. Lego going over 250, Wick hitting 100M, Cars pushing 200M, Power Rangers hitting 150M. Any one of those would make up the difference.

hell with Power Rangers i'll be happy topping 100m. That's the only one out of those u listed I'm not so sure about. It could bomb like xXx is doing or surprise everyone and top 150m.

Corpse lucked out with Split  great pick.

50SD will top 100m for you for sure. Fist Fight i can see surprise & top 100m if not getting real close. Beauty & Beast will surely top 400m. it's OW will be humongous.
I think Ghost in the Shell should top 75m. it looks fucking cool as shit.

Ghost In The Shell does look cool, but I'm concerned it might not find a wide enough audience in theaters. I also wonder if it's box office would be better with a R rating, instead of a watered down PG-13.

It definitely would be a better movie quality if it was R rated.....but probably make less at the box office.

I disagree. I think its fan base is considerably more picky than most and could boycott a PG-13 live-action version of Ghost in the Shell, especially when the anime is R-material (though never officially rated). Therefore, I believe if it was rated-R, the box office would improve. There is an audience for R-rated action films, but they have to be good.

Ummm the Rings connection makes no sense. I doubt it was canceled because of how Rings flopped. A blind man could see Rings flopping.
