The #1 cult film of all time. Crazy audience participation and a theater run unlike any other.

Is it a guilty pleasure? A film that was made without any care, but somehow came out fun.

Is it pure genius? With lyrics such as "I'm not much of a man by the light of day. But by night, I'm one hell of a lover", could the characters and lyrics be any more clever?

Was it a good idea that wasn't implemented well? Or a bad idea that was implemented perfectly? Does it belong in a bargain bin? Or, should it be mandatory viewing in school? Does the film taint your view of Tim Curry?

My opinion: Everyone's gotta experience a showing with friends on a cold night. It's not a great film by any means (except for the lyrics), but it's great in the amount of fun one can get from it. After all, he's just a sweet transvestite...

And, remember, if you hate the film, blame it on Rupert Murdoch!!!!

I cannot remember much of a movie, too long it passed since I've seen it.

Though, remember that I liked it.

A classic that transcended the movie idiom through the unique and initially spontaneous participation of the audience as a makeshift Greek chorus.

Film collides with participatory theatre to engender a precursor to interactive multimedia.

As to your question: IMHO, it was a great idea implemented perfectly - clearly it is designed as a spoof of the old 1930's RKO movies as well as a loving ode to them, simmered up with just the right soupcon of 1970's camp. It wasn't just the audience participation that sustained this movie, it is a classic in it's own right.

I think you probably meant 1975-1990 since it did end its midnite run around middle of 1990. Surprisingly when it was first released it was a bomb but its long midnight run help its culmative take of over 100 million dollars.

Rocky Horror and the Warriors were 2 of the midnight shows that I remember seeing.

Well, it prob. ended the "official" run, but, there are still plenty of places that have the midnight showings once a month or so. I've never been to one, but I have friends that have.

I have to say this is one of the best movies I've seen. I watched in on dvd at a friends house a couple weeks ago and rewatched it tonight and it's so much fun to watch. Awesome lyrics and hilarity make this movie to be one of my favorites of all time. Plus this movie has friggin' Meatloaf in it! MEATLOAF! He rocks.

Definately a great cult classic. I never get tired of it. It's funny, yet violating.

I think part of the draw was going Wasted, import some spirits to the cinema wink, wink, seeing people act it out, open umbrellas throw things etc sing along, as if they were in the movie, and then you could go out to bars afterwards

I hated the film until I went at midnight, half in the bag, Lets do the time warp again! sounds better

Finally saw it. And I wasn't drunk. I'll have a full reaction later, but I have to say I actually enjoyed it. I'd actually rate it as an 8.5/10 or A-.
