Directors are directors. There shouldn't be separate category by gender. That's just wrong.

Well the main reason they split up actor and actresses, is because they don't give enough good roles to actresses, so the actor would win almost every year. I guess by that logic there should be best female director.

nothing like a couple of white male bros telling people that pandering to females/POCs/diverse demos is actually good and not in fact degrading and insulting.

this year aside (which is just one of the weakest best actress field maybe ever), the amount of good roles for actresses have been plenty over the last 10 years.

expand the field to ten, reveal runner-ups so there's extra merit rewards, and combine everything.

Captain Marvel had a female director and four of the comic book films this year have female directors.

this is regressive thinking. we should actually get rid of male/female acting awards, not push for more shit like it.

may as well add race categories while we're at it because all the female directors everyone mostly wants to talk about our white and that is going to piss off people for overlooking the contributions of black and asians and hispanic female directors.
