Best Actress in a Comedy is going to be hella interesting. The Farewell also should be a drama.

Ya, that's weird but I guess Awkwafina is gonna win and will probably help her Oscar chances.

FUCK THE GOLDEN GLOBES!

Lupita Nyong'o NOT getting nominated for her DUEL role in US is a travesty.

FUCK the 93 members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Your yearly reminder:

These awards are not a predictor of the Oscars.
These awards literally mean nothing.

You’re right Chippy but they can give you momentum like with Bohemian Rhapsody last year. I think HFPA will go a similar route this year, awarding best drama to Joker which will then make it a “more serious” best picture contender.

Of course Constance gets snubbed, bullshit. Hoping the academy rises up and gives her a much deserved nomination

Damon not being in Supporting Actor race is criminal, for me he came out better than Bale.

Meryl Streep having 34 nominations and 8 wins (soon to be 9) is obscene

The Globes are the second biggest Film/TV award show in terms of ratings. Everyone in the know knows they're a hilarious scam, but to the public they're actually a prestigious big deal. To the industry it's just promotion and a way of drumming up momentum for the Oscars.

Also for straight-up comedies and musicals being able to slap 'GOLDEN GLOBE BEST FILM WINNER' on the cover can do something for DVD sales. It can also help legitimize the careers of B-listers who may get nominations here that they won't get at the Oscars (ala Hailee Steinfeld for Edge of Seventeen). So they're not completely worthless.

The Golden Globe is the worst! All the HFPA want is to vote for their favorite people so they can drink and hangout with them. Ridicules! #FuckGG #ADAMNSHAM!

Ricky Gervais is back to remind you that he doesn't care about any of this and that he's not the most insecure person in the room.

I think 1917 is the favorite now to win the Golden globe for best drama. Mendes will definitely get nominated for Best Director as well.

If Gerwig does make Director I wonder who's gonna get snubbed.

It's likely the lineup will be Bong Joon-Ho, Tarantino, Scorsese, Mendes, Gerwig.
