Post Star Wars
Am I crazy or is the backlash greatly improving this movie’s chances of being nominated? The academy could piss off nerds and trumpers, the two groups they hate the most at the same time.

And Star Wars is very inclusive, celebrates diversity and promotes other liberal values while deconstructing our code of ethics. It’s kind of the perfect storm and the only thing holding it back is its title.

I thought about that as well. It is the first Star Wars movie that asks its audience to think about the material it presents.

But that damn casino planet

It will get similar nominations to TFA and nothing else.

I know, even Empire and all it's magic was more about the placement of the hero's journey in a new context vs asking us to question the hero's journey itself

And yeah, maybe some tech noms and that is it, too much weakness overall in the film

It's more likely to be the first Star Wars movie to win the Razzie for worst picture.

TFA was not politicized by backlash from “angry white men.”

Plus Star Wars promotes diversity more than Wonder Woman. It actually does carry the liberal agenda WW was accused of.

Most of the backlash I'm seeing online has nothing to do with diversity or any agenda, it's more about the disregard to Luke's persona from the previous film, an unnecessary 30 minutes subplot that could have been edited out and it wouldn't have changed the movie, questions posed in the previous film not being answered (Snoke, Rey's parents), Phasma wasted again, ...

Wow are people stupid. You'd think some people would've paid attention to the damn thing.

People wanted a movie that glorifies Luke and move on.
