All The Money In The World is not even out yet and it gets nominated. Ridiculous! Isn’t Ridley Scott still working on it? Where’s The Big Sick?? That deserve best picture slot for comedy. Get Out & Lady Bird aren’t even a comedy. GG is getting more & more of a joke show every year |

***PREDICTED WINNERS*** Best Film (Drama) - The Shape of Water Best Actress (Drama) - Frances McDormand, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri Best Actor (Drama) - Gary Oldman, Darkest Hour Best Film (Comedy/Musical) - Lady Bird Best Actress (Comedy/Musical) - Saoirse Ronan, Lady Bird Best Actor (Comedy/Musical) - James Franco, The Disaster Artist Best Supporting Actress - Laurie Metcalf, Lady Bird Best Supporting Actor - Christopher Plummer, All The Money In The World Best Director - Christopher Nolan, Dunkirk Best Screenplay - Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Best Animated - Coco Foreign Language - The Square Original Score - Dunkirk Original Song - Remember Me, Coco This was really hard to predict this year. Damn. I hope we will get some pleasant surprises. I was torn between The Shape of Water and Three Billboards for Best Film (Drama) but I think The Shape of Water just feels right. Three Billboards doesn't feel that hot at the moment. Has lost a lot of steam and The Shape of Water is more current. Then for Director I was torn between Christopher Nolan and Guillermo Del Toro. |

I wish with all of my heart that you'd be right about those CMBYN wins but I don't see it getting anything sadly. I almost feel like it will be this year's Carol at the Oscars too and get mostly shut out. I would be heartbroken so I hope not. That Ridley Scott win would be insane. Though I suppose him having to re-shoot scenes and complete the film in such little time could help him out. |

Woof that monologue was bad. “I’m gonna show how not racist and sexist I am by immediately pointing out everyone’s race and gender.” Gal doh. And Sam Rockwell is a great pick! |

Yeah the bit with Amy Poehler was especially cringey. |

Franco winning is just awesome. He deserved it for hitting it out of the park - as Tommy and directing the film. |

Worst globes ever. Everything is so serious and nobody is fun drunk. I love Natalie Portman but “here are the best directors who are all men” was unneeded and kinda cruel since it made all the nominees feel bad about themselves on camera, like it is their fault. But now we now we know their shame faces - civil rights! I’m happy for Del Toro though. Shape may be a bit overrated, but who ever wins for their best movie? And then they bring Gerwig out right after best director is announced?? Way to make her feel awkward too. |

Ridiculously political awards. Dunkirk obviously the best |

Kinda glad I didn't watch this. I agree the lack of a female director being nominated this year with Gerwig and Jenkins is troubling, but don't make it awkward during the show |

Again the Globes is a joke, but it is influential, sadly. |

Rees and Jenkins were never going to be nominated. The only one with a chance was Gerwig. Was she definitively better than any of Nolan, Spielberg, Del Toro, Scott or McDonough? |

Kind of watched off and on last night. Seth Meyers was pretty much forgettable. He rushed through his monologue like he had somewhere else to be. I also don't like that he handed off his bit with the two female writers to members of the audience. Most of the people nominated aren't funny and were nowhere near drunk enough yet for that to have worked. Why not just let the two writers shine and then have Poehler come in for the last joke? And I tuned out in the middle, he didn't completely disappear until the end of the night, did he? I don't think he was ever on stage for the last third of the show. I did like seeing NPH getting visibly pissed off that he couldn't do a planned bit. I think he even said something like, "Becuase we don't have enough time for bits...here are the nominations...". The Hollywood Foreign Press and NBC need to watch out. Every year this show gets more and more irrelevant. And unlike years before, I don't even think it'll be a good precursor to the Oscars this year. TBOE,M will get some nods, but I don't see it winning anything outside of screenplay and (maybe) actress. I thought the movie was very good, but the love for it last night was weird. Irrelevant is a good word to describe last night. |

Gerwig was snubbed but that's about it when it comes to female directors. Sorry, I'm not going to pretend that people like Ava DuVernay or Patty Jenkins are great artists. |

I think the better argument is female directors should get more work in film. Someone like Michelle MacLaren has been making a name for herself in television, especially Game of Thrones, so why can't she have a big film to her credit by now? Natalie Portman just missed the mark entirely on the point of everything. The Globes are so laughable. The TV wins are always so bizarre and without any rhyme or reason. Seth Meyers is normally reliable for laughs, but I can't remember any good laughs. Some of the predictable stuff isn't worth a mention even if it was funny. |

Irrelevant is a good word to describe last night. Yeah, agree with ALL that. I thought Portman's line was all good, but a lot of the acceptance speeches were just too political and un-needy for me (but I guess I just have issue that it doesn't feel those redeeming words are coming from the heart)...there pretty much was just NO fun in those clips I saw. If they can't make this show more entertaining it will definitely lose relevance. |
