I made my predictions today. Was honestly not easy. Left out a lot of stuff I think the HFPA would normally go for. *****MY PREDICTIONS***** BEST FILM - DRAMA Call Me By Your Name The Post Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Dunkirk The Shape of Water BEST ACTRESS - DRAMA Meryl Streep, The Post Frances McDormand, Three Billboards Jessica Chastain, Molly's Game Sally Hawkins, The Shape of Water Daniela Vega, A Fantastic Woman Nobody is predicting her so I'm unsure if she's eligible but I can totally see them going for Daniela Vega. It was between her and Annette Bening for me for that 5th slot. Or even Gal Gadot. BEST ACTOR - DRAMA Timothee Chalamet, Call Me By Your Name Gary Oldman, Darkest Hour Daniel Day-Lewis, Phantom Thread Tom Hanks, The Post Jake Gyllenhaal, Stronger BEST FILM - MUSICAL OR COMEDY Lady Bird I, Tonya Get Out The Big Sick The Disaster Artist BEST ACTRESS - MUSICAL OR COMEDY Saoirse Ronan, Lady Bird Emma Stone, Battle of the Sexes Margot Robbie, I, Tonya Judy Dench, Victoria & Abdul Aubrey Plaza, Ingrid Goes West Another where the 5th slot is pretty open. I am hoping they go for Aubrey Plaza. It's definitely possible. That or Anne Hathaway for Colossal, but that's a long shot. In all likelihood they'll play it safe and go with Salma Hayek for Beatriz At Dinner or Emma Watson for Beauty & The Beast. BEST ACTOR - MUSICAL OR COMEDY James Franco, The Disaster Artist Daniel Kaluuya, Get Out Kumail Nanjiani, The Big Sick Steve Carell, Battle of the Sexes Hugh Jackman, The Greatest Showman BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS Laurie Metcalf, Lady Bird Holly Hunter, The Big Sick Allison Janney, I, Tonya Melissa Leo, Novitiate Mary J. Blige, Mudbound BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR Armie Hammer, Call Me By Your Name Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards Willem Dafoe, The Florida Project Michael Stuhlbarg, Call Me By Your Name Richard Jenkins, The Shape of Water BEST DIRECTOR Greta Gerwig, Lady Bird Christopher Nolan, Dunkirk Jordan Peele, Get Out Guillermo Del Toro, The Shape of Water Luca Guadagnino, Call Me By Your Name BEST SCREENPLAY Molly's Game Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri Lady Bird Get Out Call Me By Your Name BEST ORIGINAL SCORE Dunkirk The Shape of Water The Post Phantom Thread Darkest Hour |

The Globes seem like the type of award show to eventually split the director into two categories. |

Some of these nods were just plain crazy. Plummer gets a nod? How the hell Ridley scott over any number of others. No beauty and the beast? I did like Ansel elgorts nod Get out is probably winning over lady bird |

I LOVED Ansel getting nominated for Baby Driver! Such a pleasant surprise. I wasn't terribly surprised about Plummer. I definitely thought that was a possibility. But I was surprised by Michelle getting nominated as well and especially by Ridley being nominated. Now THAT was a shock. I didn't even think of that as a possibility. |

Does "Get Out" really belong in the comedy category? Haven't seen it, but it looked like a horror/thriller to me, albeit with some humor thrown in |

Well, it has a satire side to it, which is a discipline of comedy, so yeah I'd say it's fine where it is. |
