It is crawling its way back up! Being a mediocre movie couldn't stop it, having the wrong movie called before couldn't stop it and now being released in the wrong year won't stop it. Your 2018 Best Picture Winner - Moonlight |

For real though, it does look like Get Out is being positioned as the frontrunner. I figured Dunkirk would be dominating these critics lists and then kind of fade as we got closer to awards season. I will make it my official prediction with either Nolan or Gerwig winning director. |

Or Lady Bird BP and Peele for BD? Either way I like the Get Out vs Lady Bird no white men allowed!!! Oscars as a prediction |

Changing this thread from a gag to a club. Get Out has so much momentum right now and there’s no way anyone can bring it down. It’s a critically acclaimed populist satire that celebrates diversity. And Get Out would instantly be the most iconic movie to win Best Picture this decade. And the highest quality. And it would buck the trend of being bias against genre films. |

I think Get Out is not Best picture worthy, but I’d love to see it win because it’s a thriller. |

If this wins best comedy at the globes then I'll believe it. |

The King's Speech is the most globally iconic BP winner this decade and Get Out winning wouldn't change that. |

That's not accurate. People know Get Out, they just don't care so much about it, and specifically they do not put it on a pedestal as some highly intelligent film art. |

Good news- SAG nominations for Ensemble and Actor show the guilds are taking this seriously. Bad news- Mudbound was just as successful. That’s the one movie that could screw things up. |

If people like Denzel, Kaluuya, Chau get in it shows the academy was being careful with race this year |

BAFTA will be interesting for this, I'm pretty sure they don't care about black people |

I'm still rooting for Get Out to win BP. After all, it has gotten love from the guilds (DGA, PGA, SAG Ensemble, WGA, and ACE). As long as it gets nominated for Best Picture AND Best Director at the Oscars, it's still in the race for BP. |

I think Three Billboards, Lady Bird, Dunkirk and The Shape of Water are all ahead of Get Out. |

zwackerm wrote: I think Three Billboards, Lady Bird, Dunkirk and The Shape of Water are all ahead of Get Out. Not Dunkirk (I do love the movie, though). It missed a WGA nomination and failed to get a SAG Ensemble. Plus, it was shut out by the Globes this past Sunday. The other three though I agree. Still, Get Out is not out of the race yet. |

I think Greatest Showman could sneak into the category. |

I don't feel the dislike for Interstellar that much. But I do feel that Nolan as a director is not embraced by his peers. So there might not be enough sympathy votes to avenge his TDK and Inception snubs. He will still be nominated in this weak year. Also, Dunkirk is too British. Its BP chances are even lower than Nolan's director bid. |

I should have known better. It’s a black movie that black people actually like and relate to. One which criticizes the very people who it needs to vote for it, not just one designed to make white people feel better about themselves. You could tell it was the most popular movie in the room though. JP’s win was the best moment of the night. Fish fuckers matter! |
