Post National Board of Review Anticipation
These announce on NBR's official Twitter at 3 Est. today. They're usually good for a surprising film in their top 10. I remember when The Secret Life of Walter Mitty made the cut. Then there are pleasant surprises like when The Perks of Being A Wallflower was in their top 10 :wub2:. This year I'm pretty much expecting Wonder to be their surprising inclusion. That or Downsizing. That feels like this year's Walter Mitty in a way. Both dramedies with lukewarm responses and starring Kristen Wiig.

A list of their top 10's from the years can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_ ... _Ten_Films

My Predictions:

Best Film: Lady Bird

Best Director: Luca Guadagnino

Best Actor: Timothee Chalamet

Best Actress: Saoirse Ronan

Best Supporting Actor: Armie Hammer

Best Supporting Actress: Laurie Metcalf

Best Adapted Screenplay: Call Me By Your Name

Best Original Screenplay: Lady Bird

Best Ensemble: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

I'm really not surprised to see Baby Driver in their top 10. I thought that might happen. I'm pleased with that. Still the best I've seen this year.

Greta Gerwig is definitely making a major play for that Oscar nomination.

The Post wins the three biggest awards outside of director (which they stupidly gave to Greta Gerwig).

Where's the third? I only see actor and actress.

Oh it also won Best Film. I took that from Awards Daily and it wasn't listed.

Beatriz at Dinner and Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer are good movies. Nice to see them being recognized.

Loving Vincent is doing respectable numbers ($550,000) in Hong Kong, better than Happy Death Day and John Woo flop Manhunt. I look forward to catching that one.
