I hope Hidden Figures is the one that gets the Oscar surge as opposed to Silence (sorry David).

Garfield and Neeson aren't in any race at all. Is that weird?

After seeing Silence it makes sense. Although without Hacksaw Ridge maybe Garfield would be in the race for Silence.

Garfield is favored to get in Best Actor for Hacksaw

I can see Best Director getting weird with the last two spots after Chazelle, Lonergan and Jenkins. It was already weird recently and then they introduced a lot of new members. Something like Verhoeven, Ford, Larrain, Loach, etc.

Wouldn't predict either but throwing it out there, I'm not convinced Portman is 100% lock for Actress nomination (since they could really, really hate Jackie) or that Sully is 100% dead (Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close 2.0? Not enough straight white guy led movies in the top 10...)

I'd love to see Mel Gibson nominated for Hacksaw Ridge. That'd make my year. What with Trump being inaugurated, liberals and their media would go insane.

Look forward to seeing if Hidden Figures could carry the late momentum to exceed the expectation, like getting multiple supporting actress noms and multiple tech mentions.
