Four years later: Lincoln should have won BP/BD
Since it is Spielberg's 70th birthday... I'm not saying Lincoln is the best film ever but it just felt right as a Best Picture winner and the right time to give him his 2nd best picture win and 3rd Director win as a career achievement like when Streep finally got 3rd Oscar. He was in his finest form of the last few decades and making a film about passing a law fun was an achievement. Argo was a quality thriller but it didn't need to be Best Picture. It's hard not to think Hollywood voting for it was connected to how it made them look like political heroes

It was a good film, but Argo was better.

Silver Linings Playbook should have won. But I agree Argo should not have won.

The correct answer was Zero Dark Thirty.

I like Life of Pi the most but realistically only Argo and Lincoln had a shot to win that year

I agree with Life of Pi.
Cloud Atlas would've been a great nominee / winner also.
although honestly I still haven't seen Lincoln....

Re: Four years later: Lincoln should have won BP/BD
2012 was such a weak year, I didn't give any film an A or better. Looper, Argo, Zero Dark Thirty, Life of Pi, are the few A- that year I think. Perhaps I would choose ZDT as best of the year right now, but Argo is just as deserved. I would put Looper and Life of Pi just behind them. Lincoln and Cloud Atlas are a B+

Re: Four years later: Lincoln should have won BP/BD
Well, Looper wasn't even in the running. So if we're including all films for 2012, then Skyfall should have won Best Picture. It is an A. Life of Pi was my fourth best film of the year. Also an A. Looper was 6th with an A-. I'd have been happy with that winning.

Silver Linings Playbook should have won (and Bradley Cooper too).

Zero Dark Thirty should have won, but, yes, Lincoln > Argo.

Re: Four years later: Lincoln should have won BP/BD
Spielberg should thank his lucky stars that he had a powerhouse DDL perf as Lincoln, because the movie was otherwise completely forgettable and ordinary.

Lincoln definitely does not belong in the BP/BD award winning Schindler's List bracket.
