...Be the lowest in modem history. I don't see how it increases over last year, even if La La Land is huge. If it goes below 2008's 31 million viewers, it will be the lowest rated in modem history.

It depends if Passengers manages to become a contender and how it does, and how big La La Land ends up being (I see about $70-$80m for it but I know some are predicting huge numbers). As long as there's 2-3 films people care about nominated the ratings should be OK.

When was the modem invented?

Are you taking the first modem, which wasn't really a modem, in the 1920s?

Maybe one of the modems used in the 1950s?

You really need to specify the dates you're using to track this.

Since it has viewership numbers available? The early Oscars did not have viewership numbers available.

Yes, but when are you saying the modem was invented? Exactly?

1986 Oscars then.

I think the modem was invented before 1986.

That's just how long they've been reporting the ratings every year.

Maybe if they used their modem they could have tracked the rankings.

This has been the funniest conversation I have read here in a while.

Why are you focusing on modem times, zwack?

Passengers is not going to be a contender. I feel like we need to nip this idea in the bud now honestly. lol

zwackerm rose above it, but Chippy still attempted to sell the same joke in four consecutive posts. #Lame

As for the Oscar ratings, the blacks will probably tune in this year because there will be more of them nominated, so...

All I know is this year will probably get the most repeat viewings in history.

29.07m viewers. Literally the worst ratings ever and the first year to miss 30m viewers. I was right. Lack of excitement for this year's nominees plus the political stuff turned off more people from watching than #OscarsSoWhite did.

plus the political stuff? did the rednecks who didn't watch the oscars before boycott the oscars?

There is more than one kind of Trump supporter. And moderates don't like Trump bashing either. Or celebrities telling people what to do.

I do do that. I don't need to be talked to like a child. It's demeaning, no matter your political beliefs. I did watch the show, it doesn't bother me that much. I actually thought it was sort of funny how they were scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point.

And it's more like "Only progressive leftist liberals treat people with respect and dignity, FUCK YOU if you don't believe EXACTLY what I believe."

Literally nobody has ever said that. It's not their fault you have a little pea brain that can't understand words.
