Yes, I know we're barely into the awards season with Venice Film Festival and then TIFF; yes it's hard to win lead actress with a musical; and yes there will be some fierce competitions from more dramatic roles, in particular Viola Davis, but want to put this out there now. The reviews on the film are very strong, and even the ones that didn't gush over it, they singled out Stone's performance. |

I like Emma Stone and wish her all the success in the world. But let's see who else impresses this year. I haven't seen any performances so far this year that have wowed me enough to think they might be Oscar worthy. |

Honestly I see the race coming down to Viola Davis and Emma Stone unless Fences is a total bomb. I feel like Viola will have the edge, but La La Land seems like the movie to beat for Best Picture as the race stands right now. |
