I am glad The Great Gatsby and The Lone Ranger were nominated. The former in particular has very, very impressive visual effects. I was sad the Oscars did not even include it on their shortlist. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yeah. When I read the nominations I was surprised TGG didn't get into Visual Effects Driven category as it was I'd say 80% pure effects. |

It's interesting how Elysium and Obliion just keep being ignored for their visual effects (I expect that to repeat at the Oscars). They weren't box-office hits and certainly had some issues, but their effects were flawless and certainly more interesting than Iron Man 3's fiery volcano people or Pacific Rim's Transformers. |

Particularly Elysium, which has amazing visual effects. |

Who is Ryan in Gravity? I don't recall any animated character in Gravity. |

That's what I thought. She wasn't animated, though. |

There are many shots where she is. |

David wrote: There are many shots where she is. Sure, but that's not really an animated character. The character is made by Bullock, not CG. |
