The Secret of Kells and Blind Side are the biggest surprise of all the declared nominees.

Did Avatar get a BP nod? I missed it when that old man was speaking.

So the Academy is now nominating glorified TV movies for Best Picture?

Yea ... 10 is too many and Blind Side shouldn't be nominated.

I do like Avatar, District 9 and Up ... though it feels more like a WoKJ best picture list than an Oscar one.

What good is it to nominate District 9 or Up? Are a few more people really going to buy the films because they're nominated?

Jason Reitman is not nominated for best director. Haha.

Post Re: Oscar Nominees 2010
So among best picture nominees.

Avatar and Hurt Locker both have 9 nominations.

This could be pretty interesting between the two. Avatar has a disadvantage as no film since the Grand Hotel has won Best Picture without getting nods in the Acting and Writing categories (Titanic didn't get nominated in writing either, but at least it had help in the acting categories, which helped it get it votes). Hurt Locker will win.

It's good to nominate both District 9 and Up considering THL is probably going to pick up the big prize and it's way bad than either of those two. THL is as mediocre as a movie can be.

Isn't Avatar going to win BP? It's made too much money to be ignored, like Titanic.
