Having seen this movie, I will find it incredibly hard to image if it is not nominated for either best foreign film, or if Christian Bale doesnt get some kind of recognition.

No doubt, it is a very dark film...but exceptional. An instant classic and Bales transformation along with the incredibly clever plot makes this a film that wont be forgotten.

As far as I can tell, it was made and licensed in Spain. Therefore, it could be a potential winner for best foreign film.

It won't be nominated for best Foreign Film.

Spain is (obviously) already pushing The Sea Within. They have already submitted it. It's a done deal.

The Machinist won't get any nominations.

Unfortunate. Disagree however that Bale wont get a nomination.

The actor race is croweded, the film has no visibility (been in limited release for a few weeks). Publicity has been scant.

It might be a good performance, but 1000 actors a year give fantastic, career defining performances that are never nominated.

Just promise me you won't be disappointed when it doesn't happen.

The film is only playing in 8 theatres currently, I believe it expands next week. It has been on TV shows, etc...so there is some publicity.

Im not expecting it to win any awards, but that doesnt mean I wont be disappointed. :wink:

Im still waiting for more theater expansions since the closest theater showing the movie is around 50 miles from here
