I quite enjoyed the ones I watched last year; Hidden Figures, La La Land, Arrival, Hacksaw Ridge, Lion and Moonlight.

(Going by BOM's Oscar page.)

Didn't see the rest.

Been a dreadfully poor year for me so far, from what I've seen, which is admittedly not much at all.

Well the Oscar-y films don't really come out until October onwards, but Battle of the Sexes looks good, as does Hostiles.

All of the ones you mentioned were released in the fall/winter. The good movies are yet to come. Not that there aren't some gems already this year (Baby Driver, Colossal, Atomic Blonde, Megan Leavey, IT, mother!, The Big Sick).

Norman is pretty good, IMO. The titular character played by Richard Gere is not black-and-white. You would probably hate him for one moment and then sympathize with him the next.
