And Batman Begins is much better than Man of Steel, which is reflected in the ratings.

Re: Batman Begins
Rewatched this today.
Still really enjoy it, but don't see what folks mean by "TDK makes it better". BB is clearly worse than TDK in most ways, and worse than TDKR in many ways, too. BB is the truest crowd pleaser of the series, but rewatching it, it still has plenty of silly moments.
The biggest thing going for it is terrific pacing. At times awkward acting or poorly shot action is completely overshadowed by the films relentless pacing - it's use of flashbacks has become the industry standard.
yes, the microwave emitter things is stupid and Holmes acting is really flat. Yes, some of the one liners "its gonna blow!" "ive gotta get me one of those!" "cranepoisonedherwithapsychotropichallucanagent, apanicinducingtoxin" reallllly need work done.
2nd best origin film behind man of steel, solid A.

Re: Batman Begins
Still the best of the trilogy, even with Holmes being very underwhelming. Still not my favorite Batman, but overall, this is the most satisfying of them all.

I might be in the minority but I think TDK/R makes this much worse than it originally was. Because they're so far superior.

They really, really are. BB, to me, doesn't fit with the other two.

Please, TDK and TDKR don't fit in with the great setup that was BB

Re: Batman Begins
BATMAN BEGINS is a superhero movie. THE DARK KNIGHT is a crime film. THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is both.
I like them all for different reasons. TDKR is probably the most flawed, but I think its ambition nudges it ahead of BEGINS for me.

Re: Batman Begins
Nolan made 3 very unique films, without question. Hence why I think they were each able to top each other.
And MOS > BB. Thematically, action wise, acting wise...

No way. It doesn't have the pacing, but MOS has more movie magic.

Excel doesn't even believe what he's saying. Have you seen all the issues he has with MOS? Once the fanboy glow wears off he'll come back to Earth.

Re: Batman Begins
I like MoS more than BB, but is it a better movie? I tend to lean to no. But it's closer than people think.
Better villain? MoS Better hero? MoS Better female? MoS Better action? MoS Better alter ego? BB Better story? BB Better sequel setup? BB Better acting? About even

Re: Batman Begins
You really think Clark is a better hero than Bruce?
I know absolutely nothing about Clark based on MAN OF STEEL, other than the fact he does what other people tell him. Adopted Dad says not to reveal himself, so he doesn't. Birth Father says to go be exceptional, so he kind of does. But that's about it. After 150 minutes I still have no idea what he's actually like as a character.
I got all that from Bruce by the time he ran off to Asia.

Re: Batman Begins
I think the acting's pretty even. Both films have really good acting. MAN OF STEEL is just saddled with a shitty script, so it's harder for the actors to pull it off.
Ra's al Ghul is a way better baddie than Zod, though.

Re: Batman Begins
I liked Shannon but he's saddled with some utterly stupid character choices. "I just want to rebuild our race. I could ask for your help settling one of numerous Kryptonian outposts or I COULD DESTROY THE PLANET YOU WERE RAISED ON JUST BECAUSE WE NEED CONFLICT."

RELEASE THE WORLD ENGINE Some of it is great though. Jor-el: "But you're talking about gernocide! " Zod: "Yes. And I am arguing it's merits with a ghost. " Jor-el: "We're both ghosts Zod! Can't you see that~ " Zod:

CM has 5 pieces of dialogue. Faora has more depth.
