Black Eagle

Such a bad movie. Sho Kosugi is the star and Van Damme plays second fiddle. But VD is much better in this than in No Retreat, No Surrender; he plays the enemy in this and I root for him every time.

Post Re: Black Eagle
This was one the action films of my childhood, as a friend back then had it on VHS and it was definitely a thing to see a film with Van Damme then. I didn't remember it so well so I looked forward to revisiting it.
It's definitely not a Van Damme film, he's plays a villain and isn't in it that much. But he's still present and the scenes with him are decent as is the film as a whole still. Its heaps better than most of the direct to streaming action films released nowadays. The story of the hunt for some high-tech equipment is interesting enough and I like the Malta setting as well. It has an uninteresting side angle involving the sons of the lead character, who actually doesn't have that charismatic lead quality either. There isn't much (spectacular) action in it too, it has the story and the setting but just not much else. I probably like this a bit more after all due to how it recalls to my childhood.
