Goose did not appear. Neither did Coulson or Cobie Smulders unless I missed them at the funeral.
Ah yeah, thanks! I didn't see Coulson, but I saw Smulders at the funeral.

I'm by no means encyclopedic on the history of the MCU, but didn't Vision die? If they die before the click they don't come back. Though to be honest if these stones are so powerful maybe they could bring him back too. Yeah, he did...so I understood they only reverse the snap itself, and brought those vanished back, not any of the pre-snap deaths (though yeah, the infinity stones could just do anything, bring anyone back if they wanted to I'd say). So I guess the snap reverse worked in that you suddenly just wake up alive again but in the future, jumping the time away without aging.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
Watching this for a second time my grade still stands. Overall I do think IW is better and yeah its mostly because of pacing, but man is that last hour killer. That ending still guts me, and I love how personal and high stakes the final battle was. The change of context with Thanos makes it all the more satisfying when he does finally get his whether it's Cap wielding Mjolnir and wrecking his shit or Tony saying "I AM IRON MAN" before snapping him and his army out of existence. It's just all so damn satisfying, but it can't really make up for how long it takes to get there, because while I do love certain scenes in the first two acts it does feel way too long by the time it gets to the mid way point. I felt so drained by the time they got back to the facility.

Drainage was low for me. I could've watched another two hours in the hope it would become epic.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
The movie is already full of over-powered super-badasses. I thought Hulk being able to contribute to the battle without needing to use his trademark rage was a huge step forward for him.
That’s the key to the movie. They let it breathe with so many character scenes and it makes the battle at the end so much better when you are fully invested, not just because of what these people have been through for the last 2 hours, but 10 years.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
Saw it yesterday. Definitely the best MCU movie I've seen. I did think it dragged at parts but it started and ended great. Overall I'd give it a B+. Certainly better than I was expecting. It has made me interested in checking out some of the others. Most notably the Captain America movies.

The scene with them all returning through the portals was pretty cool.
I just don't really connect with this series much at all.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
Since Russo started with Cap movies, he tied it very well with endgame.
1) Scene with Old Cap, Winter Solder and Falcon with Cap handing over shield to Falcon. Tied with WS movie. 2) Cap and IM closing loop on their conflict. That was the best part. 3) Cap traveling back in time to Peggy.
Of course IM got even bigger high with his death scene and I am Iron Man punch line. Also his hug with SM was awesome.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
What happened to Gamora? I've only watched it once, so maybe I missed something, but I'm going to presume that she was disintegrated with Thanos and all his forces, since she isn't with the other Guardians in the end, but surely they would have shown her? So I guess she somehow escaped the battle, but even still, would she have been immune to Tony's snap?

Re: Avengers: Endgame
I'm ASSUMING that since Tony knows of her, she wasn't disintegrated and she just dipped out because she doesn't know anyone. So she's gotta be on Earth somewhere? Maybe they'll search for her in Guardians 3.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
And what happened to the Loki that escaped with the Tesseract (Space Stone)?
Besides the time travel, and I know that was the central plot of the film..., I enjoyed it. But not as much as Infinity War.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
I didn't think of that angle, Corpse. Good one. It could be a possibility that she disintegrated along with Thanos and co.
And yeah, what did happen to Loki?? ?

Re: Avengers: Endgame
The Loki thing had to have created an alternate timeline, I'd think. Or maybe that will be the plot of his Disney+ show.

Ah yeah, I remember now. They fucked up in 2012 so had to go back even earlier to get it again. So yeah, not a plothole.

On the second viewing I noticed that Quill had her picture on his map at the end before Thor came in and started messing with him. Asguardians of the Galaxy will probably be about bringing her back in to the team, along with defeating and (eventually) befriending Adam Warlock.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
The Falcon/Captain America scene is a euphoric one in the moment but yes short sited.
Though it kind of looked like they kept it slightly open for Bucky to take the shield with Falcon's hesitation as unlikely that it is now.
I hate time travel plots and this film is reason why. But yes the ending is so satisfying that you forgive and forget.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
There was no way to resolve IW without time travel plot. But it was unfortunate what they did with Thor and Hulk. They made them comedy sidekicks. We never saw bad ass hulk after the 1st film. But IM and Cap did get amazing closure.

Re: Avengers: Endgame
I thought about that, and they could have resolved it if they would have just gotten their hands on the infinity stones, before Thanos destroyed them in their original timeline. I enjoyed Endgame and it's time travel escapades, and I think they did a well enough job of everything making sense. It's not as great a time travel film as Back to the Future or Terminator though.
