Pet Sematary (2019)
Quote: Pet Sematary is a 2019 American supernatural horror directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer and written by Jeff Buhler, from a screen story by Matt Greenberg. It is the second adaptation of the novel of the same name by Stephen King, after the 1989 film. The film stars Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, and John Lithgow.

PET SEMATARY
Nothing special to watch here. It was okay. I watched the original a couples months back and this film follows it pretty close. Just like that Carrie remake this is like a do-over. Why almost copy the original like that. Anyway, it did have a few jumpy moments which is something I'm looking for in horror pictures but this film suffers the same way the original did and that's the father being so ridiculous. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. Towards the end he did seem to get his brain back but the film stopped him from success.

Re: Pet Sematary (2019)
Man was this dull. It's honestly more boring than just straight up awful, but considering the amount of praise this has been getting from critics was expecting so much more. I didn't give a shit about any of the characters in this with maybe the exception of John Lithgow and that's only because of how much I like the actor not his character. The performances aren't even bad, but Jason Clark is such an uninteresting/unengaging lead with how low key he plays the role. The actress who played the wife was a lot more lively with her performance. Also, outside of some gory, disturbing horror imagery here and there I thought all the scares were pretty lame in this. I never felt any tension or suspense once, and damn did I hate the ending.

Re: Pet Sematary (2019)
The only good bit was the flyover of the burning house at the beginning, and the dolly shot up to the blood-smeared veranda before any characters were introduced. Gave the impression the viewer was in for an auteur-ish horror masterpiece; and then the firecracker went to damp and meandering frizzle with about as much suspense as a daytime thriller, with slightly better visuals, and a cast just able to make something of a bland, boring, yawning script.
I guess it wasn't all the way bad though, in that daytime TV with good actors kind of a way.
