Re: Escape Room
This was very entertaining for the most part but the last 15 minutes or so are rough.

Re: Escape Room
Agreed. It is a fun suspense film for most of its running time, notably prioritizing a sense of danger and mystery instead of hyper-grim sadism (despite superficial similarities to the Saw and Hostel franchises). The production design is clever and engaging, particularly the upside-down-bar escape room. The last few minutes are absolutely dreadful, though. It pushes through three or four natural endings, as if loudly saying, "Wait, wait, just one more scene." And the final moment just feels a bit...laughable.

Re: Escape Room
Yeah, I'm not sure how I wanted it to end but when it got to the 6 months later part I was thinking "eegawd".
It's a shame though cause without some of the tacky bits this is surprisingly well made and well acted.
Also, like in Don't Breathe, I don't get the point of the first scene being a flash forward? It does nothing for the narrative imo.

Re: Escape Room
This was horrible and the lead actress was atrocious. The ending was laughable.

Re: Escape Room
Man did this movie go off the rails towards the end. The last 10 to 15 minutes of this were straight up awful, and what makes it even more frustrating is the fact that I was actually enjoying it quite a bit up until that point. The acting isn't great, but I liked Tyler Labine's and Deborah Ann Woll's characters and the escape room set pieces were actually kind of neat and thrilling. Once the villains show up though everything goes down hill from there IMO, and it starts with that guy who played Jason who I thought was just a horrible actor. Really all those scenes with the villains were cringe inducing and my god was that ending laughable. At least the first half of it was pretty entertaining though.

Re: Escape Room
This is an effective and heart-pounding suspense film in the style of Cube with added Saw. Not really much else to say. The rooms are creatively staged and the final girl is the right one (and I was very pleased the black guy died -- what a prick!). I look forward to the sequel though I can't imagine it being as cool or creative since they'll be stuck on a plane (at least initially).
