Hollow Man
Quote: Hollow Man is a 2000 American-German science fiction horror film directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Kevin Bacon, Elisabeth Shue and Josh Brolin. Bacon portrays the title character, a scientist who renders himself invisible, only to go on a killing spree after going violently insane, a story inspired by H. G. Wells' novel The Invisible Man. The film was nominated for an Academy Award for Visual Effects in 2001, but lost to Gladiator.

Re: Hollow Man
This is a masterpiece for me. Verhoeven never gets the recognition he deserves. Hollow Man is a great reboot of the Invisible Man concept, and a version that delves into the darker sides of the human condition (obviously considering it's Verhoeven!), and that makes this one rather special for me. That, and that it's the version of my era. I love the most recent one as well, but this one shines so bright in my mind, and its cast helps a great deal. Elisabeth Shue's in her prime, Bacon is on fire, Brolin is pre-big break, and there's loads more faces that you'll recognise.
Unfortunately, the sequel only wishes it was actually invisible.
