Re: The Breadwinner
It's a beautiful film, no surprise to anyone who's seen The Secret of Kells or Song of the Sea, but with more depth, moral gravitas. I had avoided seeing this for awhile because I often don't like war movies / 'downer' movies, but the characters, animation, score, and overall beauty are worth it. I loved the story-telling gambit and how the side-story was interspersed with the main action, although a couple times it interfered with the flow just a teeny bit. But my goodness, the depiction of these characters and the choices they had to make.... I loved it. This a gorgeous, affecting movie. (not a total downer like I suspected)
