Post Re: Working Girl
This is a lovely film. It has such a nice flow and subtle mood to it. No big grandiose scenes or ideas. Just a solid story about a woman doing what she needs to in order to make it on her chosen path. I was rooting for her all the way. Loved how she stood up for herself. Superb performance by Griffith. When it started, I thought it ws going to be the 80s version of an early-00s McConaughey rom-com, but it wasn't at all. It was much more grounded and, I believe, actually set out to highlight the struggle of women in the workplace. Ford was pretty cool. Not his usual Ford self. A bit of a bore but apparently a stud that all women fawned over. Nice to see a change for him, albeit not too far from his usual roles. It was also great seeing Oliver Platt, Kevin Spacey, and Amy Aquino in early roles. Oh, and it was great to see Alec Baldwin as the lower class heartthrob to Harrison Ford's middle-class one. Only a few years later and he'd moved into Ford's shoes in Malice etc. B+
