The Man from Earth: Holocene is an American drama science fiction film directed by Richard Schenkman and written by Emerson Bixby, based on characters created by his father, science fiction writer Jerome Bixby. It is a sequel to the 2007 film The Man from Earth. David Lee Smith returns as John Oldman, the protagonist.

Post Re: The Man from Earth: Holocene
I have a big appreciation for The Man from Earth and looked forward to seeing this sequel. It didn't turn out as a disappointment, but it does feel noticeably less good and real. Not sure where they even could have gone with a sequel, but this just takes place exactly 10 years later, like the actual gap between films. The interesting angle in this film is that John has starting aging, to meet with the actor's actual increasing age, but this is never really further delved into. Instead focusing on the teens, introduced in this film, coming to the realization a 14,000 year old man who may or may not be Jesus is amongst them. David Lee Smith is still good as John (the man from earth), but the supporting cast comes up short at times. Part of that is because the script is forcing things to become bigger than the first film, which it's just not able to handle with the resources at hand. Things are either poorly acted or just feel more ludicrous than it's core premise (a man's been alive for 14,000 years). I liked the film though, once again it brings up topics within our world and society that are worth a thought, its execution just misses some major beats this time. The score is basic but fits the film nicely too, further Akemi Look is just darn pretty and the Christian kid is just a dead ringer for what I imagine zwackerm to be.
