Re: 12 Strong
A decent war movie. More on par with, say, Lone Survivor than The Hurt Locker. Chris Hemsworth delivers the chiseled, thousand-yard-stare, burden-of-leadership intensity while Michael Peña and Michael Shannon provide character-actor seasoning. Veteran photojournalist and first-time feature director Nicolai Fuglsig stages coherent combat sequences and gives the overall a film a high-gloss, Ridley Scott-esque burnish. A tasteful amount of patriotic uplift is provided, but it is tempered by a nod to ongoing peril and uncertainty in Afghanistan.

Re: 12 Strong
I wasn't impressed but this is a very well made movie. Surprisingly low on patriotic moments and while there are loads of great aerial support after a few it becomes repetitive. The finale was again well choreographed but lacked the emotional punch required. Hemsworth, Shannon and Peña are all good in here but nothing memorable.

Re: 12 Strong
A solid war flick. About on par if not a little below Benghazi, but not on the same level as Lone Survivor or American Sniper IMO. Hemsworth is good as is the rest of the supporting cast, but this movie felt way too long. The action sequences are well done, but I was kind of falling asleep during that final battle to be honest.
