So it's great for DC fans but also going to do really good with general audiences? Wow. So now if it doesn't top The Force Awakens, it's a failure. ;)

Yeah I think critics missed the mark on this one.

I don't understand how JL is better than WW as a movie even if you are a DC fan. BTW I remember a lot of high grades for BvS here.

Wonder Woman is definitely better. And I never liked Batman vs Superman

OK. My point was towards this being A+ (like the highest grade) specially when we had WW from DC this year. They are definitely not of the same grade as well as WW is superior movie (never thought I would defend WW over something...ugh).

JL had moments straight out of the comic book & animated shows I never thought I’d see in a movie.

A+ indeed

I can’t fucking wait to see it again.

This is a bad and peculiar film. It is clear everyone involved internalized the criticism of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice—too long! too self-important! too somber! an apocalyptic dream sequence, you say?—and haphazardly tried to right the ship at the eleventh hour, resulting in a noisily inconsequential sequel so desperate to please as to be annoying. Ezra Miller's wide-eyed Flash has a few charming moments, I guess, but, in general, I despised the quote-unquote levity here. Scenes become downright crowded with gags and quips; even the exhumation of Superman's corpse is treated as an opportunity for a few one-liners and pop-culture references. The storytelling is boilerplate defined; superhero cinema, I pray, never puts forth an antagonist more generic and unimposing than the badly computer-generated, blandly destruction-minded Steppenwolf (sadly sans magic carpet). My God, imagine how low a person's standards would have to be to find this character and his search for the fabled, ha ha, "mother boxes" interesting in any way, shape, or form. At best he deserves creativity points for just terrorizing one impoverished family (improbably living near Chernobyl by way of Sokovia) instead of laying waste to entire cities.

Nothing in the film connects. Everything earns a resounding, "Eh, who cares?" J. K. Simmons debuting as Commissioner Gordon? Eh, who cares? An introduction to Atlantis? Eh, who cares? Superman's alive again? Eh, who cares? (Oh, no, another platitude-heavy Lois Lane essay on hope. Poor Amy Adams.)

I admit, I am still fond of Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne (the distinction feels nonexistent in this film), though he is far less enigmatic and intense than in Dawn of Justice.

I still have a modest amount of interest in the solo Aquaman movie, particularly since James Wan is directing. Jason Momoa exhibits a bit of wild-man, cigarettes-and-alcohol charisma in this, but the character is poorly introduced. And the film has almost no major water sequences, so he mostly just registers as a burly dude throwing punches.

It is almost fascinating how this film avoids even slightly progressing or deepening these versions of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. In fact, it reduces them. At the end, they feel smaller and less distinctive than they did when the film began. Except Superman is maybe more smug.

And I do not care if Cyborg says it in a popular children's cartoon. "Booyah!" is cringe-worthy to the max.

If WireImage is to be believed, neither the credited director (Snyder) nor the uncredited one (Whedon) attended any of the film's premieres.

Aquaman almost never using his abilities in this was a big problem in introduction of the character. There are almost no water sequence for such an expansive movie. I overall liked Momoa's Aquaman but the character was poorly introduced here.

but man...there's plenty of geek porn moments in this movie that I can't say it's not at the minimum a entertaining and fun ride. The interactions between the characters is just a lot of fun and it's main issue for me is just the lack of enough of those moments. The film needed more moments where Diana and Bruce are debating the move to bring back Superman. It felt just like the comics and the JLA.

Lecter told me he felt the film never had that big epic moment that bringing the league together should have and he's right. There's almost nothing epic in this film. MoS and BvS had better highs than JL has. But JL's simplicity makes it easy to enjoy its moments much easier than those films and I'd gladly rewatch JL again over those movies.

The DCU could be in better shape but honestly...it's got enough groundwork now to build into something.

Its a big blockbuster movie that was made with mindset of getting casual fans as well and not just hardcore fans.

I don't understand how someone can claim others not being a fan (of DC or superhero genre?) if they dislike JL or something in the same vein. Its not like every fan will like everything that comes out on a screen. BTW I've never been a BIG fan of MCU or DCEU. I am more of a movie fan and like superhero movies in general so maybe a casual fan at best.

Mid credits was good, not too much of the dialogue but I dug the concept.

Post credits, maybe this is on me, but I had no idea what it was about...who's the deadpool lookalike? what is the villain league? And young lex luthor, while not bad in BvS, im not feeling him aa a good villain...doesn't come across as evil. If the post credits would have been an awesome prison break it would have been more enjoyable.

JUSTICE LEAGUE

First, I will say that I did find most of it entertaining in terms of the action and visuals. Not factoring Cavill's horrible face job. I enjoyed the action sequences and the Flash, Aqua, Mera. In fact, I really liked watching Mera use her power in that short sequence though I wish we had seen more of it. I didn't like how she got knocked back so easily though. That's pretty much what I liked the most was the action.

Second, I was not happy with the score. It was so uninteresting and unmemorable. I semi-liked that they threw in the original bat them but not the original sup theme. I could have done without them though. The score was just so bad. Quite a bummer.

Third, I didn't like how things turned out here. I would have preferred a JL1 and JL2. I did not like seeing SM come back here. I would have preferred a black suit since they did bring him back. I didn't like how SM was OP'd once again and a reviewer mentioned how WW seemed UP and against SM it seemed to be. She's a demigod for heaven sakes.

Finally, I liked seeing Luthor and am semi interested in this Legion of Doom idea but again...SM is so OP and WW is the same level. Who on the planet earth is gonna even compete with those two people.

Grade - B [mainly for the visuals/action]

1. Man of Steel - A
2. Batman v Superman - A
3. Wonder Woman - A
4. Justice League - B
5. Suicide Squad - B/C can't remember atm

Post Re: Justice League
The films have done such a pathetic job establishing why Superman represents hope that the mere use of the word in the films is legit superficial.

Nolan did such a great subtly establishing what Batman was all about. Wayne has a desire to fight criminals and serve justice, but that's it. Ras teaches him that to be truly effective, he has to become more than just a man in the mind of his opponents. He has to become an idea, or a symbol, that cannot be destroyed and is seen as an absolute. He chooses Bats and intimidates criminals into inaction.

The same concept should apply with Superman & hope, but it doesn't. It is never even established what "hope" is the way that BB clearly establishes what "fear" is. Superman films NEED too show people truly struggling - not just physically, but mentally. They need to show how it is that Superman "saves" these people. But there is nothing.

MOS and BvS slightly hints at this but the execution is so bad. Jor-El sends Kal-E to Earth because as a population, they have great potential but they need all-powerful and still well intentioned to show the people of Earth that one can be both all powerful and selfless. Jonathan Kent is more selfish and worried about what will happen to him if he shows of his powers and inspires people by doing so. Kal-El is leaning towards Jonathan for many reasons until Lois Lane chooses to get locked up rather than spill Clark's identity. His causes Kal to have faith in humanity and he introduces himself as Superman, someone who is not just a do-gooder but demonstrates that true power & true strength is having all the ability in the world and using it to benefit others than themselves, and this example will in turn inspire others of less ability to follow in his footsteps. Wayne's line in the JL trailer that "Superman didn't just save people. He made them see the best sides of themselves" hits not the head but sadly, through 3 films, there has been very little show & to tell.

I think in the right hands, Cavill/Adams/Eisenberg solo Superman film still has a ton of potential both critically and commercially. Oner thing they have 100% succeeded at is removing the boring, bland image Superman had prior to MOS.

In all fairness, The Dark Knight's 533mil in 2008 adjusts to 590+mil in 2012--the year Avenger's managed 623mil. Or, conversely, that 623mil becomes 552mil in 2008. Either way, solo Batman wasn't far off...

Solo Batman is not a Nolan Batman film. Big difference. It will essentially be a sequel to Justice League, which will be over or under 300m.
