Re: Flatliners (2017)
This film goes in one ear and directly out the other. One forgets each scene by the time the next one starts. It is not a dreadful picture in any particular way so much as just...flat, no pun intended: the scares are low-key and ineffective; the characters are generic and uninteresting; etc. It is competent and boring. The original film itself is nothing too grand, of course, beyond a few interesting Gothic visual flourishes and the presence of A-list starts, including Julia Roberts, relatively early in their careers.
I remember reading this would be a reboot in "sequel" form, à la the 2011 Thing prequel, because Kiefer Sutherland would reprise his character from the original. He has a small role as a doctor under whom the protagonists study, but as far as I can tell it is an entirely new character.

FLAT. Completely FLAT. Nothing about this movie registers and I agree Sutherland's character has no connection with the first movie whatsoever.

I watched it on a plane and didn't mind it. It seems best suited for that kind of viewing though. C+

Re: Flatliners (2017)
Watched it last winter. I think I gave it a C-. It's pretty lame.
