Post Re: Megan Leavey
I thought this was excellent. Surprisingly unsentimental in the way you'd expect from a movie with this story. Even if you don't like dog movies but do like war movies it's worth a watch. The battlefield scenes are really well-done and suspenseful. Initially given the story I really would have expected that to take a backseat but it ends up playing an equal part. Kate Mara gives a great performance. Whether you like dog movies, war movies, or both, Megan Leavey is well-worth seeing. It's not saying much because there hasn't been much great out yet this year but this might be my favorite I've seen so far.

9/10 (A-)

It's a decent film, the cast and Mara in particular are good, the emotional connection she made with the dog is well depicted. But the war scenes are all a bit meh, and it doesn't feel like a very grand story overall. Unlike a Dog's purpose, this is actually a much nicer and better dog film though.
