Re: Their Finest
This movie was delightful! A total crowd-pleaser and also a love letter to the power of movies. It follows a fairly conventional route for this sort of film but is so disarmingly charming and warm-hearted that it's next to impossible not to be won over. Gemma Arterton is absolutely lovely and is equally matched by Sam Claflin, and the two have great chemistry. Bill Nighy is also hysterical. It's a little too long but at the same time the final scene is the best one in the entire film. Really, really enjoyed this. A-

Re: Their Finest
I understand why they trimmed it for the movie, but I love the original novel's title: Their Finest Hour and a Half. This love story to the propaganda movie gets the period film style spot on. Gemma Arterton excels and keeps this slightly bloated melodrama afloat. I enjoyed its British sensibility and sense of humor. In the end, Their Finest has become its audiences' own version of The Nancy Starling. *A-*
