Re: Before I Fall
I love Before I Fall, the story of an authentically portrayed young woman throwing different spins at a single day of life. It's firmly filed among the Groundhog Day sub-genre of time travel stories, and effectively told in a low-key Twilight Zone manner. With the help of Zoey Deutch's superbly modulated performance, Before I Fall manages to break through the hokiness barrier and achieve full inspirational orbit. There is only today. How are you choosing to live it? *A*

Re: Before I Fall
Zoey Deutch is an appealing and good lead, carries the film well.
It's a pretty solid film actually but I think what turned me off iis the ending... idk.

The Village Voice review does a nice job of capturing the appeal of Before I Fall.

Re: Before I Fall
I really liked this despite it sometimes feeling a bit "after school special." I liked the ending and it does have a good message. And while not an amazing performance or anything Deutch is definitely likable.

Re: Before I Fall
Oh, and the main character's little sister in this movie looked distractingly like Jacob Tremblay. Even sounded like him. It was like he went from filming Room to this movie. The resemblance was uncanny. I told my friends and they all agreed. I wouldn't have even been surprised if when we got to the credits it turned out Jacob Tremblay was in the role and playing this little girl. LOL. So we checked and she had the same last name. I haven't looked yet but I'm assuming it's his sister. Didn't know he had one. Let alone one that acts.

Re: Before I Fall
This was a decent movie but you could see what's going to happen from the trailers itself. Its the journey here that's interesting. Deutch does a decent job here.

Re: Before I Fall
Nice little film. It's rather staple in terms of teen drama, its concept is nothing new and the last act is pretty cliche also. However most of it is pretty much forgiven because of the appealing cast of actresses, Deutch is great in the lead and Halston Sage is just as good as her BFF. The art direction stands out too, it's shot at a lustrous location and generally it's just a well directed film with the right amount of cute to it. It's nontraditional ending is worthy of appreciation, but it's mainly an excellent score throughout that make this a pleasant watch after all.

Re: Before I Fall
I love Zoey Deutch. She's like a role or two away from being the next Jennifer Lawrence or Emma Stone. She's so likable and has a magnetic screen presence.
