Maybe the term "loved" holds a high regard in your life, but in most people's it just means they dug it a lot, which is B+. At least that's how it is for me.

Well, there wasn't supposed to be chemistry. They are misfits. They is supposed to be angst between the group of individual agendas. It was well acted in that regard.

I've finally seen this and really don't know what to think. It certainly is my favorite Marvel Cinematic universe film to date, and it had so many great elements. I would probably have to watch it again to decide if I really love it or not. I really liked Rocket, Gamora and Groot, wasn't as impressed with Star-Lord and Drax. Ronan was a decent villain near the end, but he was pretty forgettable before then. I also didn't think the 1970's music really added much to the movie, with the exception of the "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" or whatever its called. It was gorgeous to looka t and certainly deserving of its Oscar noms, maybe even to win. Really, it feels like one of those movies you watch again and again and it gets better every time, but I will have to actually watch it again.

A- for now.

I don't know if it was in the comic, but the mother dying in the beginning totally felt like a parody of superhero films.

You're right. I only gave it that because that's what I gave Cap 2. Cap 2 is a B+ and this is a B+.

He can change his grade as much as he likes, but his words still don't really match his grade. He sure is a strange one, that zwackerm fella.

Hard to relate to music written three decades before you were born. :D

I'm very familiar with the music LOL I listen to classic rock all of the time. It just seemed like a play on people's nostalgia more than something that actually added to the plot or development of the characters (except of course, we know Star-Lord likes classic rock).

I graded Cap 2 too high. I give them both B+ now, with Guardians slightly higher.

I cannot thing of any song in any film that adds to the plot or develops characters.

Yes. I think it was a good aspect of Star Lord's character, but it felt very forced down our throats.

My favorite character was Dave Bautista who was just hilarious every time he opened his mouth.

Also, the movie holds up very well on repeat viewings and is sure going to be one of those movies I'm going to watch a lot.

It does hold up very well, I must say. It's a blast. One of those movies you re-watch and are just waiting for your favourite scenes to come, which because there are so many enjoyable scenes, never feels like a chore.

I don't even have favourite characters. I just feel that the chemistry among all is well executed and the dialogue is sharp and funny. Drax has some good lines but he also is basically just the set-up man for Quill's funny/sarcastic retorts. Rocket is also pretty funny. Gamora is pretty shit, actually, thinking about it. Groot is just there. He adds nothing apart from a few scenes. Ronan is my favourite character in terms of design, costume, make-up and presence. A fantastic villain. I actually really disliked Michael Rooker' character. It's probably because I've always disliked Rooker. Such a cunt.

I couldn't tell if Drax was supposed to be really fucking awkward or if Dave Bautista was just a terrible actor.
