Re: Bullet to the Head
Saw it for a second time today and Sung Kang really is useless. I enjoyed more this time as I was prepared for its shortcomings. The racist humour is great, but I wish they went harder on that. I loved the "Oddjob", "Confucius" and "Kato" references, and the "fucking read some tea leaves" joke was still hilarious and unexpected. The fights were better this time around too as I was prepared for the editing style. I actually liked the fact that the same music played throughout this time, it really adds to the low-life, grimey feel of New Orleans. Best film of the year thus far.
It still gets a "B+" though.

Re: Bullet to the Head
Yeah I was disappointed with this. The axe fight was cool and I liked the fight in the spa room, but other than that there was really nothing exciting about it at all.
Sly is still a badass and has some great one-liners, but Sung Kang was pointless and while Momoa makes for a decent villain I didn't feel like he was used enough and it doesn't help that he delivers some truly shitty lines of dialogue.
The chick who played his daughter was pretty hot though.

Re: Bullet to the Head
Khal Drogo is awesome in this. I was very surprised that he not only got lines of dialogue, but delivered them competently! English lines that is, we all know he is more than capable of speaking Dothraki. My favorite part of the movie was his little speech about the forgotten fire fighters that came out of nowhere. Of course Stallone then counters with "Are you gonna keep talking or are we going to fight?" The axe fight that comes after is my second favorite part of the movie, so I can't fault Stallone too much for wanting to fight.
My biggest complaints are the other characters, who are kind of boring, and the score. I felt they played the same song at least four different times, and it was never good.
So overall a solid B for Khal Drogo and the good balance between the crazy action, corny one-liners and dramatic beats.

Yes, Jason Momoa acquits himself rather superbly here. A spot-on blend of menace and charisma.
Of course, I do not believe he was necessarily bad as Conan so much as he was caught in an inept misfire of a film.

I didn't even bother seeing it, but now I'm a little interested. I didn't even like the original Conan that much, so just figured I would hate any new one.

Re: Bullet to the Head
I just watched it again. It's a B/B+ film.
That axe fight is terrific, though.

Re: Bullet to the Head
I finally watched this and mostly liked it. It's not a Stallone classic, but serviceable still. A nice cast, I especially like the Korean cop (Han from the Fast and Furious series), good action and fun dialogue. There isn't anything where it really excels, but to counter that it stays away from flaws as well. Enjoyable film.
