Amazing. Funny as hell and realistic in the sense that mom's do poke their nose in where its not wanted. i love this film and i think Sly has balls for doing this film. Its a nice family film.

Ah, Stallone. Such a pandering "like me, like me" celebrity. He's always been this way. If a movie of his bombs (critically or financially) he will bash it. It is one of the things I dislike about him. I'd much prefer if he was like De Niro, and stood up for his decisions and the films he makes. Having a backbone isn't a bad thing in showbiz.

I only saw this back in the 90's for the last time. Thought it was totally ok. It's average at worst, but I'd have to see it again to give it a proper grade.

And yeah it's rather annoying to get such responses from Stallone on some of his films. I'd love to hear his real insights on the film though. What made him pick the role at first, just money? How did production go, etc.

An autobiography would be ideal. But will never happen.

You haven't seen his Golden Globe speech a few years back, where he trashed a lot of films, and all about the money. Definitely a bizarre/ drunken speech by DeNiro.

If I remember correctly Arnold tricked him into doing the film by faking interest, and his agent made him commit. His stories on Rhinestone and Cobra are pretty good (The latter was the suppose to be Beverly Hills Cop, but when they tried to make it lighter, Stallone reworked the script to whatever the hell that film turned out to be)

I grew up on this film, it's not nearly as bad as it's made out to be. I mean Stallone wears a diaper in the film. That's worth it alone. B-

I love Oscar. Great cast, and Stallone has some good comic timing.

You can stand by the decisions you make and still trash the films, no? I mean it is a perfectly good reason to do a film just for the money.

Very true I mean once the film is out you can say whatever you want or truly feel. so many actors, directors do it.you have to support it during the press tour and first run of course but after that who cares. For instance Jim Carrey during kickass 2 was the wrong thing to do.

I've actually always seen Stallone as much more honest about his flops then most actors. He he wrote a great article 25 years ago about how Tim Burton and Micheal Keaton would kill the action star. How the second you can wear a muscle suit, much better actors can look the part and continuously steal roles from them

Also to add to that earlier point.you have to look at it from his perspective he was tanking in his genre, had one of the worse divorces in celebrity history, and so he branches out, flops and is shredded by critics. I can see how he associates this as being a terrible time in his career. Especially because Arnold didn't really overtake him until twins.

Being honest is one thing, but I totally agree with Algren that Stallone's public opinion is heavily thwarted to pander to his fans. Well, I guess you need both a public and private position in showbiz.

If First Blood was universally accepted as a shit film tomorrow, Stallone would trash the film and blame it on Buzz Feitshans or Ted Kotcheff. It's just the way he is. His desire to be loved is greater than other stars - Arnold always had the confidence and self-belief to power on regardless of what people think. You only have to see Stallone in any 80s or 90s interview to see how insecure he is with his image and reputation. He goes through many guises. Stallone the thespian, Stallone the director, Stallone the painter, Stallone the intellect and philosopher (his glasses stage), Stallone the comedian, Stallone the victim (his Brigitte Nielsen stage) etc. etc. Arnold has always remained constant. Just Arnold, being the way he is. He doesn't feel he needs to reinvent himself every few years. It wasn't until Stallone got with Flavin for the final time that he actually began to accept who he was. And so it isn't a coincidence why the Rambo films are constantly about accepting who he is. It is basically an element of Stallone's life, written down, and put into a Rambo film.

But I don't see how agreeing that films like Judge Dredd, Rocky V, and Stop! or My Mom will shoot, or Rhinestone were terrible decisions on his part. Rambo III is accepted a shit film, and he never talks badly about it.

It's not like he ever trashes his middle films like Assassins, Tango and Cash, or even the Specialist.

Yeah, because they all made money.

Watch some of his interviews, Thegun. You'll see that it is almost as if he is trying to get the insult in first, before the interviewer can, just to save himself some face. I've never heard other stars be like that.
