Hamilton (2020)
Quote: Hamilton is a 2020 American musical drama film that is a live stage production recording of the Broadway musical of the same name, which in turn is inspired by the 2004 biography Alexander Hamilton by Ron Chernow. The film is directed and produced by Thomas Kail and produced, written, and composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda. Miranda also stars in the titular role of Treasury Secretary and Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, along with the majority of the original principal Broadway cast of the musical.

Lived up to the hype amazingly. I might watch it a few more times.

It was really good. Was really impressed by Phillipa Soo's here, having not heard her before. The rest of the cast is great as well. It made me feel that I am watching it in theater, very good job by the director on that front.

Re: Hamilton (2020)
It took me a few songs to get adjusted to the style. I felt like I was intruding on someone else watching this play.
Once you're, it is truly a delight. I can definitely see why people are willing to drop hundreds of dollars to see it, it would be so much fun to be in the room where it happened. The songs are well written front to back and even at two and a half hours it feels short. Well done, and thanks for letting me have this experience for free (though I wouldn't have been mad if I was one of those who paid $500.)
The Congress Rap Battles were the best.

Re: Hamilton (2020)
I listened to the soundtrack in full last night. It is highly addictive. LMM knows how to craft a tune.
I also liked how 99% of the dialogue was done in song form. People spontaneously breaking out into song in the “real world” has always been cringe to me, but a world where there is nothing but song works just fine. What other musicals are like this?

The stage version of Les Mis is also 100% song I believe

Re: Hamilton (2020)
I'll try to check out some of them. Les Miz should be easy since its on HBO. Cats looks so bad, but I'd still fuck Cat-Taylor Swift.
Aside from the rap battles, my favorites:
1) Satisfied 2) Wait For It 3) My Shot 4) You'll Be Back 5) Helpless 6) One Last Time 7) Non-Stop
Though most of the best songs are in the first half, I still think the second is better overall.
