Tengoku to jigoku [High and Low]
High and LowQuote: High and Low (天国と地獄 Tengoku to Jigoku, literally "Heaven and Hell") is a 1963 film directed by Akira Kurosawa, starring Toshirō Mifune, Tatsuya Nakadai and Kyōko Kagawa. It was loosely based on King's Ransom, an 87th Precinct police procedural by Ed McBain.

Re: Tengoku to jigoku [High and Low]
The first half is great with the kidnapping and moral conundrums that come along with it (business v humanity type of stuff.) The second half, which focuses on the police's efforts to catch the kidnapper, is a little bit boring I'll admit. Wish we had just stuck with Toshiro Mifune's excellent performance. You could say the film has highs and lows.
I'll give the film a solid 8/10 for what worked though. Really good stuff from Kirosawa. Just not quite a classic like some of his others.
