Monty Python's Life of Brian
Monty Python's Life of BrianQuote: Monty Python's Life of Brian, also known as Life of Brian, is a 1979 British comedy film written, directed and largely performed by the Monty Python comedy team. It tells the story of Brian Cohen (played by Graham Chapman), a young Jewish man who is born on the same day as, and next door to, Jesus Christ, and is subsequently mistaken for the Messiah.
The film contains themes of religious satire that were controversial at the time of its release, drawing accusations of blasphemy and protests from some religious groups. Thirty-nine local authorities in the UK either imposed an outright ban, or imposed an X (18 years) certificate (effectively preventing the film from being shown, as the distributors said the film could not be shown unless it was unedited and carried the original AA (14) certificate). Certain countries banned its showing[vague], with a few of these bans lasting decades. The film makers used such notoriety to benefit their marketing campaign, with posters stating "So funny it was banned in Norway!".
The film was a box-office success, grossing fourth-highest of any film in the UK in 1979 and highest of any British film in the United States that year. It has remained popular since then, receiving positive reviews and being named 'Greatest comedy film of all time' by several magazines and television networks.

This film was recently voted as the best comedy ever made by the people of the UK. That's a sign of how loved this film is here, although i don't think its the best Python film ever made (that accolade goes to Holy Grail) it's hilarious, original (in its day) and above all controversial. Its funding was pulled during filming, and i believe the Python's funded the film themselves.
I'm so glad they did, a wonderful comedy classic that everyone should see. A.

While not pound-for-pound as funny as Holy Grail, I think it's MP's best movie.

Totally brilliant and ballsy. One of the funniest and best comedies I've seen, and I'll admit I expected no less from it, after finally renting it. It's a classic.
5/5

Not as random or crazy as Monty Python...
However, "crusification, yes, okay to the left and take a cross please..."

This is much funnier than Holy Grail. Still not a favorite, but I at least understood what they were going for here. The jokes were more than just random outbursts from people acting retarded.
