Quote:
A Day Without a Mexican is a 2004 film directed by Sergio Arau.

A Day Without a Mexican, opened on May 14, 2004 in limited release throughout Southern California and on September 17 in theaters in Chicago, Texas, Florida and New York City, is a fantasy in which all Mexicans in the U.S. state of California suddenly disappear.

This was Eduardo Palomo's last film before he died of a heart attack.

Hahaha, I actually forgot I requested this thread until this afternoon.

Anyway, I saw it about three weeks ago. It was good. The little bit of factoids that popped up made it seem like a documentary at times and really distracted me more than anything, although it helped stress the message of the movie. The acting was solid, and it was probably the best part of the movie. Overall, it's nothing I'd consider amazing, but a far cry from a bad movie, so I'd have to give it a B.

It was okay. Laughed-out-loud at times and the twist in the end is pretty funny. B-

Highlight if you dare:
The main character turns out to be adopted, she's actually Armenian, so she didn't disappear like the rest of the Mexicans.

I picked that up in the first scene with the old lady in the television study, when she showed that piece of paper to the producer. I thought "It's probably a birth certificate....she's not Mexican." Not to say it wasn't bad. It really helped stress the message at the end of the movie, and it really wasn't an outrageous twist anyway, so meh.
